What we believe

It is our belief that the Church, at its core, is about glorifying God and enjoying him forever, through having a living and personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Our fellowship is made up of a number of people, who at one point in their lives, never thought they would enjoy going to Church but are now a part of a much loved Church family; and there's always room for more!

It is our desire at Forres Baptist Church, that we would know and experience the fullness of life the Lord God Almighty offers to us. At every moment of life - moments of joy, moments of despair, and even those moments in between - we would know the grace, love and peace of God that passes all understanding.

Rev. Dr. Jon Mackenzie

Jon has been pastor of Forres Baptist Church since 2013. He is married to Amanda and they have two children. He is passionate about the local Church, prayer and bringing glory to Christ. He has a first class honours degree from the Highland Theological College, a Ph.D  from Aberdeen University and a post-doctoral diploma, all in theological studies.

John Teasdale

John, who was elected an elder in 2011, is a retired dentist who came to faith over 50 years ago whilst at University. He has been married to Sue for nearly as long and they have a daughter and son and four grandsons. They have served in a variety of denominational settings. A country boy, by upbringing, John loves living in Moray. He also still enjoys researching (and playing with!) old die cast toys.

David Nelmes

David was elected an Elder in 2011. He is married to Alison and has two children. Outside of church David runs a small local publishing company and, when time permits, enjoys all tv sport, golf and holidaying in France. He enjoys hill walking when weather permits.

Andrew Dobbs

Andrew was elected to the eldership in 2019. He became a Christian at a young age and grew up in the Forres area before moving away for education and work, years later he returned with his American wife Christa to raise a family and they now have three children. Andrew works as an Electrical Engineer, relaxes playing video games and enjoys music - he plays the drums and is often found behind the kit in our Sunday service.
